Abstract
In order to collect the basic data for the improvement of dentifrice, the authors had experimented the tooth abrasiveness and concentration of fluoride and dental plaque removal efficacy of 4 types of dentifrice contained 0.76% sodium mono fluorophosphate. CN dentifrice contained 25% Ca HPO4 and 7% Na P03, N dentifrice contained 30% Na P03, C dentifrice contained 32% CaHP04.2H20, CC dentifrice contained 31% CaHPO4 and 1% CaHPO4.2H20, and the standard reference dentifrice contained 40% CaCO3.
The abrasiveness was measured by weight loss method. The fluoride ion concentration was checked by Orion 701A digital pH/mV meter. The plaque removal efficacy was calculated by Koizumi,placom;
The obtained results were as follows:
1. The relative abrasiveness was 153 in CN dentifrice, 107 in N dentifrice, 133 in C dentifrice, and 133 in CC dentifrice.
2. The concentration of fluoride was 973ppm in CN dentifrice, 1,037ppm im N dentifrice, 1013ppm in C dentifrice and 989ppm in CC dentifrice.
3. The efficacy of removal of plaque was 80.5% in CN dentifrice, 90.0% in N dentifrice, 85.0% in C dentifrice, and 94.0% in CC dentifrice.
